Defying the Odds: A Heart That Stopped but a Spirit That Never Did
Cornell’s journey took a harrowing turn when he suffered a life-threatening cardiac event that left his heart stopped for 16 minutes. A miracle in itself, he survived and was given an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) to monitor and regulate his heart rhythm. While such an experience would cause most to slow down, it ignited a fire in him. Instead of retreating, Cornell became a passionate advocate for heart health, determined to use his second chance at life to inspire and uplift others.
Fatherhood in the Face of Adversity
Alongside his own medical battles, Cornell supports his youngest son, Juju, who was born prematurely at just 24 weeks and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Watching his son’s relentless fight to overcome mobility challenges has only strengthened Cornell’s determination. While the road is not easy, he continues to pray and push forward, believing in the strength of his child and the power of resilience.
Impacting Lives: Championing Youth in Underserved Communities
Beyond his personal challenges, Cornell dedicates himself to helping hundreds of young people across Florida, and Jamaica. Through Stories to Create and his nonprofit, EHAS INC, he provides mentorship, education, and opportunities to youth facing difficult circumstances. His work is a testament to the belief that, despite life’s setbacks, every child has the potential to rise above and create a meaningful story of their own.
Bringing Stories to Life: Nostril Adventure and Beyond
Even with all these commitments, Cornell still finds time to innovate in the creative world. Inspired by one of his children’s books, Nostril Adventure, he has ventured into game development. The upcoming release is only the beginning. As he finalizes details for The Great Cheese Chase, a mobile game in the works, Cornell is already in talks to expand the Nostril Adventure franchise across multiple gaming platforms.
